Architectural Models - Dream Home Workshop
Architectural Models - Dream Home Workshop
We are again living through a turning point when old and petrified values in architecture and town planning are increasingly being called into question. The straight lines and uniformity of Bauhaus architecture are coming to an end because they are unfeeling, sterile, cold, heartless, aggressive and unemotional. The era of absolute rationalism is coming to an end. The new values are a higher quality rather than a higher standard of living, yearning for romanticism, individuality, creativity, especially creativity and a life in harmony with nature.
- Hundertwasser, 1988
Hundertwasser called himself an Architecture Doctor. His aim was to create a more human architecture in harmony with nature and human creation. This included breaking up sterile, flat skylines, converting areas of ground into uneven surfaces, letting spontaneous vegetation grow in gaps between cobbles and cracks in walls, installing tree tenants, varying windows and irregularly rounding off corners and edges. He developed 3D models to help us visualise his original ideas.
In this workshop you will design and build a model of your dream home using found and recycled materials - take inspiration from Hundertwasser, be creative and use your imagination.
