Our odd socks are woollen and hand-knitted by local artist Erika Husselmann. Each sock is unique with different colours and patterns.

Hundertwasser used to wear odd socks. Often asked why, he answered: “Why do you have to wear two matching socks? Odd, that means non-matching, socks are a living, wearable symbol of the rejection of inhumane regularity.”

Hundertwasser in New Zealand, written by Andreas. J. Hirsch and published by Oratia books, is a new publication celebrating Hunderwasser’s life and legacy in New Zealand 1973-2000. This richly illustrated book explores his life and work in Aotearoa. The Hundertwasser Art Centre with Wairau Māori Art Gallery is also a feature in this new book.
